Everybody needs a stable and secure home. However, the UK’s housing crisis means that for many people, this is tragically out of reach.
The cost of not building the homes we need has now become too great, both economically and socially, and we must act. As public servants and leaders of industry we have, between us, the motivation and tools to transform the way we work to release a wave of new social housing.
New Homes in New Ways tells the story of how Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), unlocking “unlikely” land and rethinking the economics can accelerate the supply of quality new homes, with an emphasis on delivering the social rent housing needed at pace, in the first instance to get children out of homelessness.
Co-curated by the Building Centre and Housing Festival, New Homes in New Ways
draws from the recently released Social Rent Housing At Pace: The MMC Playbook. Launched by Housing Festival, the Playbook is a cross-industry response to our broken housing system and severe shortfall of safe and secure social rent homes. Supported by case studies from across the UK the New Homes in New Ways exhibition is a powerful demonstration that between us we’ve got all the resources we need to start eliminating the deficit in our social rent housing supply, today.
The exhibition will be open Monday – Friday / 8am-6pm in the Building Centre, 26 Store Street, London. It is free to visit and we have a café and product galleries on site.
The content includes exhibition panels, case studies, installations, video and audio – we are sure you and visitors will be enlightened and inspired, and we thank you for your contributions in making this and looking forward to showing you the results.
